Britney Spears And Jason Trawick Call It Quits As They Decide To End Their Engagement

Looks like Britney Spears is back on the market. When she decided to quit the X Factor, she also decided to walk away from her fiance Jason Trawick. After being engaged since December 2011, the two have decided to end their relationship. This is just on the heels of Britney quitting X Factor in favor of focusing on her music career and a possible sitcom role.

According to TMZ, who came out with the initial report of the breakup:

“Jason didn’t want to make the announcement until he was taken off the conservatorship. Interestingly, lawyers for the conservatorship are in court right now, along with Britney’s dad,Jamie Spears, so it’s possible Jason will be removed today. Sources say it was a ‘friendly breakup’ and Britney and Jason will remain friends. As for why they split, we’re told they just “grew apart.”

Just in case there are doubters, PEOPLE also confirmed the news of their breakup. The magazine released a statement from Spears’ rep Jeff Raymond, who said, “Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have mutually agreed to end their one-year engagement.” In a statement to the press, Britney released additional comments about the sudden breakup, offering up, “Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I’ll always adore him and we will remain great friends.”

Over the last few weeks there have been rumors swirling around the troubled relationship, mainly that Spears didn’t want Trawick to be her main conservator. As some of you may know, Britney Spears started her conservatorship four and a half years ago due to her reported psychological issues. The singer’s father Jamie Spears was in charge of her until Jason proposed to Britney, and that’s when things got tricky.

According to a few reports, their delayed nuptials were due to the conservatorship. In order for them to get married, Jason had to agree to have power over her personal life and financial decisions. Apparently this agreement became too stifling for Spears, and the singer has decided to flee. Trawick was also involved in the production of X Factor, which he was given in lieu of Britney signing on as a judge. As reported Spears is no longer associated with the show, but it’s unclear whether or not Trawick will remain involved.
