Washington D.C. Is The Nation’s Capital For Online Porn Watching [Study]

Many citizens feel that the way the federal government spends taxpayer money is “obscene,” but it also turns out Washington D.C., with its cadre of high paid lawmakers, bureaucrats, and lobbyists, watches twice as much online porn as any other jurisdiction in the country.

District residents watched about twice as much X-rated videos on the internet as the the second place finisher Hawaii at least according to data compiled by PornHub.com via BuzzFeed. Massachusetts finished third.

The New York Daily News offers additional information on adult entertainment viewing by state:

“Residents of Washington, D.C., watch nearly twice as much online pornography as people in any of the 50 states, according to a study published by XXX site PornHub.com.

“Horndogs in the nation’s capital consumed online pornography at a rate of 14.18 videos per person in a year ..

“The findings were based on viewership metrics from Pornhub itself, which is frequently mentioned as the most popular pornography site in the U.S.

The News claims that D.C. took the top honors because some many single people live there, and single people are more inclined to watch such adult content. The Washington Post offers another possible explanation:

“Barry McCarthy, a professor of psychology and sexuality at American University, also points out that more educated people tend to use the Internet more, for any purpose. Nearly half of people in the greater D.C. metro area hold Bachelor’s or graduate degrees.”

Back in 2010, dozens of highly paid employees of the US Security and Exchange Commission — the agency that is supposed to going after Wall Street crooks — were caught watching porn while at work. But none of them were fired. According to the Washington Post, eight resigned and six received suspensions lasting from one to 14 days.

Do you buy the premise that there is a direct link between education and porn viewing?
