Owl City Hits #1 Again With “Fireflies” on Billboard Hot 100

Miami, FL (CNS) – Owl City’s “Fireflies” jumps back into the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, showing that the electronic synth-pop hit was no fluke when it hit #1 for a week last month. The song spends its second week at #1 on the strength of airplay and digital sales, which will sell over a million by the end of the month.
Jay-Z and Alicia Keys move back into their peak position of #2 this week with “Empire State of Mind,” from Jay-Z’s “Blueprint 3″ album. Last week’s #1 from Jason DeRulo, the Imogen Heap-sampling “Whatcha Say,” moves down to #3 this week.
Moving up to #4 this week from #12 is newcomer Iyaz with “Replay,” who earns a new peak position. Down one spot to #5 is the former #1 from Jay Sean, “Down,” which features Lil Wayne. Also down one this week are Miley Cyrus at #6 with “Party in the U.S.A.” and Lady GaGa at #7 with “Paparazzi.”
Britney Spears stays put at #8 with “3,” from her “Singles Collection” released this week. Meanwhile, Rihanna jumps all the way from #75 to #9 this week with “Russian Roulette,” the first single from her upcoming album, “Rated R.”
