Alex Jones Phrase ‘1776 Will Commence Again’ Goes Viral After Piers Morgan Confrontation

The phrase “1776 will commence again” is going viral after conspiracy theorist radio host Alex Jones uttered it in an on-air confrontation with Piers Morgan.

Jones appeared on the show to discuss gun control and a petition he started to have Morgan deported for the CNN host’s views on gun control. After the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, that left 26 people dead, including 20 children, Morgan has pushed for stricter gun control.

Alex Jones’ appearance on Piers Morgan Tonight turned into an argument between the two men as Alex Jones grew heated, calling Morgan “a hatchet man of the new world order.”

“1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms!” Jones shouted at Morgan. “It doesn’t matter how many lemmings (mindless followers) you get out on the street begging for them to have their guns taken! We will not relinquish them! Do you understand?”

Alex Jones, who said he owns about 50 weapons, often shouted over Morgan during the appearance.

While the phrase “1776 will commence again” is going viral, Morgan said that kind of heated rhetoric shows the dangers of guns.

“I can’t think of a better advertisement for gun control than Alex Jones’ interview last night,” he said Tuesday on CNN’s Newsroom. “It was startling, it was terrifying in parts. It was completely deluded. It was based on a premise of making Americans so fearful that they all rush out to buy even more guns.”

Since the appearance, many gun advocates have adopted the phrase “1776 will commence again” as a warning against the rising number of people calling for gun control. The phrase has also been highlighted by a number of media outlets, including Gawker, to summarize Jones’ passionate defense of gun rights.
