Kevin Garnett Allegedly Compared Melo’s Wife To Cold Cereal
Kevin Garnett is a “cereal offender” according to the New York media.
This is because an explanation has emerged for the Carmelo Anthony-Kevin Garnett confrontation on Monday night at Madison Square Garden
Anthony and Garnett were at each other’s throats during the Celtics-Knicks matchup, and it continued off the court. As captured on video, Anthony even waited for Garnett outside next to the Celtics team bus after the game.
What allegedly got on Anthony’s nerves was a comment made by Garnett, a notorious NBA trash-talker, about Melo’s wife La La Vazquez Anthony. According to the New York Daily News:
” ‘Your… wife tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios,” Garnett told Anthony …
“Garnett’s slight came off as offensive and tasteless to Melo, who is having marital problems, a source told the Daily News.”
Carmelo Anthony told the New York Post, which did not confirm the Cheerios comment, that he lost his cool during the game but he just wanted to speak with the Celtics forward and not fight:
” ‘There’s certain things that you just don’t say to men, another man I felt like we crossed the line …
” ‘Nothing happened for me to be suspended. I went and I wanted to talk to KG. … No altercations. It was just some words and a conversation that we needed to have..’ “
The two NBA stars reportedly chatted by phone later and resolved their differences.
The visiting Celtics defeated the Knicks 102-96 in part because of poor shooting performance by Anthony.
AP reports that the league is investigating the post-game incident and reviewing the video.
