Amber Alert Issued For Jazmin Babers

Tempe, AZ – An Amber Alert was issued for Jazmin Babers after she was reportedly abducted by her biological father. The 13-year-old girl was last seen at a bus stop in Tempe, Arizona on Tuesday afternoon.

Law enforcement officers believe that Ernest Babers, 37, suffers from mental illness. Police reports indicate that Jazmin texted her mother around 5 pm to say that her father was taking her to California. The Arizona teenager also allegedly told her mother that she was scared and nervous. Babers made a second call for help not long after the initial phone call to her mother, ABC 15 News reports.

Tempe police spokesman Mike Pooley had this to say about the Jazmin Babers Amber Alert:

“The Buckeye Police Department received a phone call from a young girl by the name of Jazmin stating that she was scared and she needed help. That was the last we heard of her.”

An Arizona State Highway Patrol officer in the Quartzsite area spotted a blue SUV matching the description of the vehicle driven by Ernest Babers and pulled the driver over. The man was reportedly Jazmin’s biological father. Law enforcement officers note that the vehicle Babers was driving had been stolen earlier that same day.

The police cancelled the Amber Alert for Jazmin later that same evening when the teenager girl was safely found, MZRI News notes. Quartzsite officers are reportedly holding Ernest Babers in custody and questioning him about the alleged abduction until the Tempe police officers can arrive.

Jazmin Babers was expected to arrive back at her mother’s home late Tuesday evening.
