Arnold Schwarzenegger Says School Shootings Are Not Linked To Violent Movies

You know the man. You know the movies. Arnold Schwarzenegger has been a household name for decades now, and it’s more than just for being the Governor of California.

In case you don’t know, Schwarzenegger’s starred in countless violent movies, which the former “Terminator” says are not linked to real world shootings, says Yahoo News.

Schwarzenegger told a press conference at his new movie “The Last Stand”, released on January 18, that the two should be kept separate. The former Governator said:

“(This is) entertainment and the other thing is a tragedy beyond belief. It’s really serious and it’s the real deal.”

Duh? Then again, if it was common sense, we wouldn’t have people shooting up theaters during films about super heroes.

Schwarzenegger adds:

“We have to analyze how we deal with mental illness, how we deal with gun laws, how we deal with parenting.”

In “The Last Stand,” Schwarzenegger plays a retired Los Angeles officer turned border town sheriff who must stop a violent drug lord from crossing the border.

The film, with its violent scenes, is among those that National Rifle Association chief Wayne LaPierre cited as a contributing factor to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, according to NBC News. That’s funny, I remember the same thing being said about violent video games and heavy metal music, the last of which seems to permeate nearly every movie he appears in.

Schwarzenegger asked:

“How can we do better with gun laws? If there are any loopholes, if there’s a problem, let’s analyze it … Are we really dealing with the mental problems the right way as a society? Does a mother need to collect guns and take her little kids shooting? Everything has to be analyzed; no stone unturned. I think that’s what we owe to our people.”

So tell me this, Schwarzenegger, what killed the dinosaurs? Yeah, I had to say that.
