A brand new gore-soaked trailer for the Evil Dead remake has clawed its way onto the internet. If you’re at all squeamish when it comes to cinematic blood, then you might want to turn back now.
Although fans of director Sam Raimi’s horror classic have been a little critical of the film before it’s release, it would seem the latest trailer for the upcoming remake has turned many of us into believers. Judging from the embedded clip, Evil Dead is getting a serious facelift.
While the original was certainly a classic for those of us who grew up during the 80s, many people might be a little turned off to the stop motion special effects and the low budget aesthetic. Since the story itself is by no means dated, Raimi decided to update his film for modern audiences.
The first trailer for the Evil Dead remake was a gory piece of work in its own right. However, the latest promotional clip released by the folks at Sony Picture Entertainment is completely over-the-top. Those who feel American horror cinema has lost its edge might be in for a surprise.
The film’s plot is described as follows:
“In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.”
Fans of Sam Raimi’s 1981 horror classic can see how the remake compares to the original when it arrives in theaters later this year.
