Walrus Wanted? Holmgren May Be Considered For Browns Post

Cleveland, OH (AHN) – The Cleveland Browns, looking for a football head to clean up the organization, are reportedly interested in former Seattle head coach Mike Holmgren.

Holmgren, 61, is reportedly on top of Browns owner Randy Lerner’s wish list for a new football czar.

In the event Holmgren, who built his reputation as head coach of the Green Bay Packers, accepts the job, he would play a similar role that vice president of football Bill Parcells performs for the Miami Dolphins.

The future of Browns embattled head coach Eric Mangini would then be determined.

Apart from Holmgren, other reported names on Lerner’s short list include former New York Giants general manager Ernie Accorsi, Atlanta Falcons president Rich McKay and former Packers general manager Ron Wolf.

In his coaching career, Holmgren has compiled a 161-111 regular season record while coaching Green Bay (1992-98) and Seattle (1999-08).

He steered the Seahawks to the Super Bowl in 2005, but lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Browns have logged a disappointing 1-7 start this year.
