Mickelson’s Short Game Lifts Lefty to HSBC Champions Win

Phil Mickelson drained an 18-footer on the 16th hole and knocked in a 10-footer on the 17th to help him capture the HSBC Champions Sunday in Shanghai.
The first shot enabled Lefty to save par, and the second was for a birdie.
This time Mickelson, who shot a 3-under 69 on the day, did not collapse at the 18th, but rather Ernie Els.
Els led heading into the final hole, but pounded a shot into the water and settled for a costly bogey effort.
Tiger Woods, who pulled within a pair of shots Sunday. lost four shots on the front nine and never climbed back into contention.
Els shot a 9-under 63 carded earlier by Rory McIlroy, who finished fourth, and Daisuke Maruyama of Japan.
