NYC Cops Shoot Teen Brandishing Pellet Gun

New York, NY (AHN) – A 15-year-old New York City boy was shot in the face by police after he pulled a pellet gun that looked like a real pistol on a pursuing officer.
Police said Marcus Bonner was spotted by plainclothes drug officers in the Bronx threatening a group of teens with the gun, sending the teens running. The detectives chased Bonner to his apartment building.
The New York Daily News reported that he was stopped by the detectives and put his hands up to surrender, but then reached for the gun. One of the detectives shot Bonner in the face. The detective’s round entered Bonner’s cheek and blasted out part of his jaw, according to the Daily News.
Police sources told the newspaper that the officer likely had no other choice but to shoot Bonner.
