Chelsea Clinton Accompanies Mom Hillary As She Briefly Leaves Hospital
Chelsea Clinton has accompanied father Bill and mom Hillary as the 65-year-old Secretary of State briefly left hospital on Wednesday for tests at New York Presbyterian University Medical Center.
Secretary Clinton wore sunglasses and a dark coat as she departed the hospital and was whisked away in the back of a black van. It is the first time Hillary Clinton has been seen in public since December 7. The temporary excursion was made so that Clinton could undergo tests elsewhere on New York Presbyterian’s sprawling campus before being returned to the building later.
Over the past few days, Chelsea Clinton has spent yet more time with her mom as the Secretary of State recovers from a concussion that led to the discovery of a blood clot in her head.
Chelsea Clinton, who was spotted visiting her mother at the New York-Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center over the weekend, was back on Monday, this time with Twitter updates.
Writing from her mom’s hospital bedside, Chelsea Clinton thanked everybody who had sent best wishes for her mother’s speedy recovery:
“Thank you to all for sending good thoughts my Mom’s way. Grateful to all her doctors & that she’ll make a full recovery.”
In a second tweet sent Tuesday, the daughter of the former First Lady expressed her relief at being able to begin 2013 with her family:
“Wishing all a healthy & happy 2013. Grateful to be starting the new year with my family.”
Hillary Clinton was admitted to hospital in New York on Sunday following an MRI scan that revealed a blood clot in a vein between her skull and brain. Doctors have treated her with blood thinners and have confirmed that Clinton did not suffer a stroke or any brain damage.
In a statement released on Monday, doctors revealed:
“In all other aspects of her recovery, the Secretary is making excellent progress and we are confident she will make a full recovery. She is in good spirits, engaging with her doctors, her family, and her staff.”
And, just in case there was any doubt about Hillary’s recovery, daughter Chelsea Clinton was happy to share the news on Twitter:
