Everything From The Comic-Con ‘Infinity War’ Teaser That Did Not Make It Into The Official Trailer

Back in July, the audience lucky enough to attend the San Diego Comic-Con Avengers: Infinity War panel was treated to a special teaser of the highly-anticipated Marvel flick. Fans at Disney’s D23 Expo were treated with the same teaser beforehand, which many assumed would be released to the public eventually. Unfortunately, the teaser was not officially released, but illegal footage of the trailer was leaked online.

Almost five months later, MCU fans were finally given the gift they wanted. Many who had watched the leaked teaser or read its synopsis noticed many scenes were scraped from the SDCC teaser, and fans were given a very different official trailer yesterday. Marvel left out some major scenes fans were hoping would be in the new trailer.

The SDCC trailer began with Thor meeting the Guardians of the Galaxy after Thanos threw him into space. Thor smashes into the windshield of the Milano and eventually is brought on board. Fans saw a continuation of this scene in yesterday’s trailer when Thor is on their ship, and he uttered the line, “Who the hell are you guys?”

Also missing from yesterday’s trailer was Tony Stark’s interaction with the Guardians as well. IGN noted the SDCC trailer displayed the group conversing somewhere in space together, but Tony doesn’t even interact with the Guardians in the new trailer.

It appeared that the Guardians were drastically cut for the official trailer, as the SDCC footage also showed Star-Lord about to attack Thanos. Dr. Strange created platforms for Peter Quill to run along as he charged at Thanos with his gun.

The biggest moment from the SDCC trailer, which had everyone talking, was when Thanos reached up into the sky and grabbed a moon which he threw at a group of the Avengers. The Mad Titan’s power was truly exemplified in this scene, and many speculated it would appear in the official trailer.

Also noticeably absent from yesterday’s official trailer, was Hawkeye, Ant-Man, and the Wasp. While it’s possible that Ant-Man and the Wasp are in the trailer, just in microscopic form, Clint Barton’s absence had fans expressing outrage on social media. Most feature films debut three trailers before the movie premieres, so fans can expect to see Hawkeye in an upcoming trailer.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018. The film stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Tom Holland, Tessa Thompson, Benicio Del Toro, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Josh Brolin, Danai Gurira, Gwyneth Paltrow, Paul Rudd, and Evangeline Lilly.
