Chelsea Clinton Pays Tearful Visit To Mother Hillary In Hospital

Chelsea Clinton has visited mother Hillary in hospital as the 65-year-old receives treatment for a blood clot between her brain and skull.

A clearly distressed Chelsea (above, left) visited her mother in New York-Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center over the weekend just hours before doctors confirmed Hillary Clinton’s blood clot was in a vein that carries blood away from the brain.

The New York Daily News spotted Chelsea Clinton leaving the hospital, reporting how:

“[…] the scare appeared to alarm the former First Daughter. The News spotted a distraught Chelsea Clinton emerging from a side entrance of the hospital, bundled up against the cold in a black down coat and red scarf. The unsmiling Chelsea, clutching a cell phone in one hand as she spoke with a furrowed brow, did not respond to a question shouted by a News reporter.”

Fortunately, it seems the Secretary of State is expected to make a full recovery. In an official statement released Monday, Hillary Clinton’s doctors provided an update on Clinton’s condition:

“In the course of a routine follow-up MRI on Sunday, the scan revealed that a right transverse sinus venous thrombosis had formed. This is a clot in the vein that is situated in the space between the brain and the skull behind the right ear. It did not result in a stroke, or neurological damage.

“To help dissolve this clot, her medical team began treating the Secretary with blood thinners. She will be released once the medication dose has been established. In all other aspects of her recovery, the Secretary is making excellent progress and we are confident she will make a full recovery. She is in good spirits, engaging with her doctors, her family, and her staff.”

As well as Chelsea Clinton, husband and former President Bill Clinton has also been pictured leaving the New York hospital where his wife is recovering.

In other news, ambassador John Bolton has refused to withdraw his comments from December 18 that Clinton may have been feigning a concussion to avoid testifying before Congress about the attack on the US mission in Benghazi, Libya. During an interview on Fox News, Bolton had remarked:

“This is a ‘diplomatic illness’ to beat the band.”

Despite doctors diagnosing a blood clot on Clinton’s brain, Bolton remains unrepentant, a response that has not gone down well on Twitter:
