Maurice Clarett Girlfriend Wanted For Alleged Domestice Violence: Police

Columbus, OH – Former college football star Maurice Clarett claims he is a crime victim.

Police are looking for Maurice Clarett’s girlfriend, Ashley Evens, in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident against the former Ohio State running back. The alleged incident occurred on Saturday.

The Columbus Dispatch reports Clarett, 29, told police that his girlfriend “bit him on the wrist and chest and punched him in the face with a closed fist.” The couple have a six-year-old daughter. Charges pending against Ashley Evans are for domestic violence and assault. Evans, 30, apparently drove off in her car before Franklin County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the home after Clarett’s 911 call.

According Larry Brown Sports, Clarett and Evans have been together for some time:

“Evans has been mentioned by Clarett in the past. She was with him while he served three and a half years in prison on robbery and gun charges. Clarett would dictate blog posts to her from prison, and she would file them on his behalf.”

As a freshman at Ohio State, Clarett led his team to the 2002 national college championship against the Miami Hurricanes. He was subsequently kicked off the team for filing a false police report and several years later served time for robbery.

Clarett most recently played for the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League. In a new book, Clarett is quoted as saying that he was paid more in college than in his brief stint in the NFL with the Denver Broncos. He is currently working on a book of his own and gives motivational speeches.
