Ann Curry Allegedly Wants Out Of ‘Today’ Contract So She Can Move To CNN

cnn ann curry

Ann Curry allegedly asked the Today show to let her out of her contract so she can make the move to CNN. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, rumors about Jeff Zucker wanting the former morning show co-anchor to follow him to CNN began circulating earlier this month.

A Radar Online source allegedly close to the Today show had this to say about Curry’s alleged contract request:

“Ann wants out of her contract, big time. She has formally asked her attorney to explore exit options from the network. However, NBC bosses have indicated they are unwilling to release Ann from the contract. If Ann were to just quit, there is a non-compete clause, which would prohibit her from working for another news outlet for two years.”

Curry’s tearful good-bye from the Today show couch earlier this year sparked outrage with show fans. Matt Lauer has taken the brunt of the public backlash. The Today show has been beaten in the ratings multiple times after Curry’s demotion by top competitor Good Morning America.

Lauer’s popularity has reportedly taken quite a hit recently. NBC has allegedly urged Ann Curry and Matt Lauer to have lunch in a public place to help thwart the ongoing angst about the co-host’s departure, according to the New York Daily News.

The source also claims that Ann Curry’s attorney could be able to make a breach of contract case due to her change in stature on the Today show. Before making the move to CNN, Jeff Zucker was Curry’s old boss on Today. Rumors about Curry’s relocating to CNN also alleged that she would be given the prime time 8 pm slot, currently used by Anderson Cooper.

Shame on NBC to not allow Ann to be released from her contract! NBC going from bad to worse! Nullify your contract due to your change in stature on Today, Ann! Instead of thinking of Ann, NBC is merely thinking of themselves! They didn't want her on Today yet they won't let her leave! Go figure! Time to speak up on Curry's behalf Lauer!

Wow….does anyone really think that NBC will do the right thing and let Ann Curry out of her contract? They literally screwed her twice and now she has an awesome opportunity to move forward and do we think they will do what Ann or the entire civilized country ask? I have been a fan of Ann since she first aired on NBC. I have not watched NBC since she was demoted for the dim bulb and Matt Lauer's ego trip. Ann should and could sue NBC for age discrimination, contract violations and who knows what else….NBC should let her go but that is very unlikely given their track record of cruel and unusual punishment of Ann. Best of luck Ann wherever you go and we will continue to watch you and cheer for you….Thank you for your integrity, journalistic ethics and grace.

Yes! Ann Curry was screwed by NBC, the station has lost my respect , she was better than what they have now, and Matt Lauer has lost the respectof a lot of people. She is one SHARP LADY , HOLD YOUR HEAD UP HIGH ANN.

Love Ann Curry! On her last day, the body language on that couch told a lot. Quite different from GMA when Robin Roberts announced her leave of absence. Shame on you NBC

After 30 years of watching the Today show dump one anchor woman after another beginning with Jane Pauley to now Ann Curry, I will no longer watch this show. The anchor men stay on there whether they are boring, bald, bad for ratings, etc., yet the woman must go at the first sign they are no longer 30 somethings. This is the most sexist show and I hope Savannah realizes and gets out of there as well. There is no honor in being a woman on that show…and I hope they let Ann Curry out of her contract so she can move on to greener pastures.
