‘The Tonight Show’ Will Not Air New Episodes This Week As Jimmy Fallon Mourns His Mother

Just days after the passing of Gloria Fallon was announced, it was revealed all Tonight Show tapings for this week have been canceled. Host Jimmy Fallon is taking time off to mourn his mother’s death and be with his family.

Deadline reported repeat episodes will play from November 6 through November 10. A repeat episode was also played this past Friday after the taping was canceled last minute so Jimmy could be by his mother’s side.

The Tonight Show website currently has “Coming Soon” listed as this evening’s guest. Tomorrow nights show will be a repeat with Sarah Silverman, the cast of Riverdale, and Miley Cyrus. However, TV guides are showing those repeat guests for this evening.

Will Ferrell was set to appear to promote his new movie, Daddy’s Home 2, tomorrow night alongside Sam Smith. Ferrell’s co-star Mark Wahlberg was scheduled for Wednesday night with Gina Rodriguez and Brian Regan. Law and Order: SVU actor Ice-T was Thursday nights guest with Tiffany Haddish. The guest for Friday night was TBA.

There have been no official announcements from The Tonight Show or Jimmy Fallon himself regarding the cancellations. The late-night program’s Twitter page hasn’t posted since Thursday evening. Jimmy has also not shared anything on social media since Thursday night.

The only news from the comedian came through a statement he gave to People.

He told the publisher, “Today I lost my biggest fan.”

Several good friends of Jimmy have reached out, including fellow late-night host Stephen Colbert, who tweeted, “Mom is the first audience and the best.”

Miley Cyrus recently spent a whole week on The Tonight Show and tweeted out to her friend last night. She told Jimmy to keep smiling and admitted she couldn’t imagine life without her mother and sent her condolences.

Gloria, 68, died of an undisclosed illness and reportedly had Jimmy and his family by her side Saturday. Gloria died at the NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City.

For now, The Tonight Show has only been canceled for this week, and Jimmy is rumored to be back next Monday night. Fans can expect a touching emotional monologue, as Jimmy has never been shy to put his feelings out on the stage.
