‘Outlander’ Season 3, Episode 8: Claire’s Reunion With Jamie Cut Short By Depressing Discovery [Spoilers]

Outlander Season 3 certainly has a way of balancing things out. Fans were thrilled when Claire Randall was finally reunited with Jamie Fraser in the infamous print shop scene in the sixth episode. However, things quickly got dark in “Creme de Menthe.” Is it possible that the couple’s situation will only go from bad to worse in Outlander Season 3, Episode 8?

In the seventh episode of Season 3, Claire Randall accidentally killed the stranger from the final moments of “A.Malcolm.” Unfortunately, the man turned out to be an employee of Sir Percival and the death could mean more trouble for Jamie Fraser. Claire attempts to save the exciseman and even sets out to help Mr. Campbell’s sister, a decision that would later lead to heated arguments between the newly reunited couple. There is little doubt that Claire and Jamie will quickly patch things in Outlander Season 3, Episode 8. However, it looks like the return to Lallybroch could be a truly bad move.

The synopsis for Outlander Season 3, Episode 8 confirms that Claire Randall will join Jamie Fraser to find safety in Lallybroch. However, Mrs. Fraser is set to find an unexpected welcome as well as a depressing discovery in “First Wife.” The description also states that “the choices Jamie made during their time apart comes back to haunt them.” Could it have something to do with Jamie taking a second wife?

Viewers are already aware that Jamie Fraser had remarried after Claire Randall’s disappearance and are looking forward to how she will react to the news. However, book readers already know that bigamy is only half of the problem. The identity of Jamie’s second wife could threaten to tear Claire and Jamie apart in Outlander Season 3, Episode 8.

In Diana Gabaldon’s novel Voyager, it is revealed that Jamie Fraser had actually married Laoghaire, the young girl who once tried to get Claire Randall killed by accusing her of witchcraft. The discovery could make Claire decide to leave Jamie. Outlander Season 3, Episode 8 might adapt this particular plot, as evidenced in the teaser for “First Wife.”
