If falling late October temperatures, roving bands of excitable candy grubbing children pounding your door down, and having to make awkward conversation with the neighbors isn’t enough to make you want a drink on Halloween night, don’t forget that your kids are going to be well and sugared up all night after tomorrow’s festivities.

Snag some candy corn from the communal bowl (and from their Halloween booty when they’re sugar-dazed in front of Disney-scary movies for garnish) for a new way to make vodka palatable- Candy Corn cordials. A dead simple Halloween drink recipe, this can probably take the edge off of 8 hours of someone shouting “trick or treat!” right. In. Your. Ear. (Note: the vodka takes three hours to dissolve the candy corn, so account for the “cooking time” if you plan on making it.)

Of course, the pièce de résistance is a bit fussy for my taste- I’d imagine you could just throw back the straight candy corn vodka and be done with it, although the cocktails do look sweet and fancy and festive. On to the recipe:

Ingredients
For the infused vodka:
* 1/2 cup candy corn
* 1 1/2 cups vodka

For the cordials:
* 2 ounces orange liqueur
* Juice of 1/2 lemon
* 1 large egg white
* Candy corn, for garnish

Directions
Infuse the vodka: Combine the candy corn and vodka in an airtight container; set aside for at least 3 hours, then strain.
Make the cordials: Add 4 ounces of the candy corn vodka, the orange liqueur, lemon juice and egg white to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds. Strain into 2 chilled martini glasses and garnish with candy corn.
