Piers Morgan: Thousands Sign Petition For His Deportation

Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan, the British CNN host, is facing a significant backlash from Americans over his views on gun control. More than 30,000 people have signed a petition asking for the government to deport the talk show host over his “attack on the Second Amendment,” according to Sky News. Petitions posted to the White House website that surpass a threshold of 25,000 signatures get an automatic response form the President.

Morgan has been incredibly outspoken in his view that America needs tougher gun control laws. Tuesday Morgan interviewed Gun Owners of America executive director Larry Pratt. During the interview, Pratt had suggested that the answer to the December 14 massacre in Newton, Connecticut was to have more guns on the street as opposed to less.

Morgan said to Pratt during the on camera debate:

“You’re an unbelievably stupid man, aren’t you? You have absolutely no coherent argument. You don’t actually give a damn about the gun murder rate in America.”

The petition posted to Whitehouse.gov was put there by a Texas journalist.

“The petition says that Morgan ‘is engaged in a hostile attack against the US Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment. We demand that Mr Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens.’ “

Morgan claims that he has no problem with the Second Amendment even though he believes the government has every right to ban military type assault weapons. Most Americans disagree, with a majority of citizens seeing the right to bear arms as an individual right protected by the Constitution.

Morgan took to Twitter after the interview saying:

“Ironic US gun rights campaign to deport me for ‘attacking Second Amendment rights’ – is my opinion not protected under 1st Amendment rights”?

Do you think that Piers Morgan should be deported over his Second Amendment views?

It is a strange type of patriot that'd destroy the First Amendment to protect the Second.

I completely agree with everything he says, and I am an American. Everyone has the right to express their opinion, and if he is deported because of this, which I don't think he will be, it will be a sad day. The US needs to come out of the Wild West mentality…it's 2012, not 1812.

  3. Theo Resnikoff

except he's not american so First Amendment doesn't matter, he's just a dick who thinks he's better than everyone else. Deport him, fucker.

  4. Michael Moreno

He is taking part of a Propaganda machine built to take away our rights by filling us up with sensationalism. Honestly i'm proud that so many americans can band together for their rights on the matter even after the horrible shooting. Deportation may be extreme but if that amendment were to change it would be worst. You say his right to freedom of speech Don't mess with americans 2nd amendment rights.

  5. Heather Johnson

Deport the man because you don't like his opinion. Yep, that sounds very American.

Want your rights protected (2nd Amendment) while trampling on the rights of others (1st Amendment). Yep, also sounds very American.

    Americans, you can do better.

Yes, Mr. Morgan should be deported for his interference with the political process in our nation piting one group of Americans against another to undermine the well settled Constitutional rights of the gun owners.
He a foreign national seeks to destroy one part of the Constitution with the protection of the other. That is NOT how the US Constitution works. The Constitution is NOT self-destructive.
".., it may be said that the power has been expressly given to Congress to prosecute war, and to pass all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying that power into execution. That power explicitly conferred and absolutely essential to the safety of the Nation is not destroyed or impaired by any later provision of the constitution or by any one of the amendments. These may all be construed so as to avoid making the constitution self-destructive, so as to preserve the rights of the citizen from unwarrantable attack, while assuring beyond all hazard the common defence and the perpetuity of our liberties. These rest upon the preservation of the nation.

‘It has been said that the constitution marches. That is, there are constantly new applications of unchanged powers, and it is ascertained that in novel and complex situations, the old grants contain, in *782 their general words and true significance, needed and adequate authority. So, also, we have a fighting constitution. We cannot at this time fail to appreciate the wisdom of the fathers, as under this charter, one hundred and thirty years old-the constitution of Washington-the people of the United States fight with the power of unity,-as we fight for the freedom of our children and that hereafter the sword of autocrats may never threaten the world.’".

Get the F" of the United States, Brit. Your opinons are vulgar and attack the rights we paid for in blood to throw the likes of you and your Forefathers out on their asses.
