Demand A Plan To End Gun Violence: Celebrities Gather For Anti-Gun PSA [Video]

There has been a lot of talk about gun control in the wake of the elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. The NRA wants to put armed police officers in every school, hundreds of thousands of Americans have signed a petition asking the government to ban assault weapons, and now a group of celebrities are lending their voices to the conversation.

Beyonce Knowles, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx, Amy Poehler and several other celebrities release a video to demanding a plan to end gun violence.

The celebrities say in the video:

“How many more colleges, how many more classrooms, how many more movie theaters, how many more houses of faith, how many more shopping malls, how many more street quarters. Enough, demand a plan right now as a mom, as a dad, as a friend, as a husband, as a wife, as an American, as a human being. For the children of Sandy Hook, demand a plan.”

The video, which also includes Joel McHale, Reese Witherspoon and Chris Rock, was made for, an organization that was started to urge congress to act on gun control.

The organization states: “Our efforts cannot bring back the 20 innocent children murdered in Newtown, CT — or the 34 people murdered with guns every day in America. But we can prevent future tragedies by passing common sense legislation that will: Require a criminal background check for every gun sold in America, ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and make gun trafficking a federal crime, including real penalties for “straw purchasers.”

Here’s the Demand A Plan video.

Why does nobody seem to have an article with an opinion? This is a ridiculous notion, it doesn't matter if you have an AK-47 in your house, if you're a law abiding citizen, you're not going to shoot people up. Crazy people will find access to guns, furthermore as I do not currently trust our government, I would rather we have guns, and I see NO WAY for this new law to prevent future attacks, because it WILL NOT, it is a desperate grasp at controlling the uncontrollable by taking away even MORE freedom from law abiding Americans. Stop using our emotions against us, this ad/PSA is bullshit. Plain and simple.

I understand fame and notoriety sell I get it! I can’t condemn these people for exercising their 1st Amendment rights but what I’d like to remind them that we still don’t have answers to the American killings at Benghazi. I understand that Chris Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, and the three others: Sean Smith, a Foreign Service information officer, and two former Navy SEALs, Tyrone S. Woods and Glen A. Doherty were not children. I get it but I don’t see how these famous people can over look it like it never happened. Why aren’t they asking to do something about their deaths? Why don’t they ask our president to press for answers as to why they stood by and watched them be assassinated? Who dined them help? Who watched them die? What preventive measures have we made to prevent this from happening again? Why is it 3 months later we’re still asking these basic questions and they don’t they have answers? This is shameful and down right criminal!

Same reason millions hang on the edge of this fiscal cliff, and bam bam is on a tax payer paid 4 million dollar Christmas jaunt to Hawaii .. If he had ANY class, he would have stayed home !! If it was bush, they would be blasting him !! Yo-bomba has a free pass and he knows it !! I doubt we will ever have answers for Benghazi !! We have to stay on it tho !!

I totally agree, John. Well said! It seems to this administration that these four brave men were just exendable chess pieces in some macabre political game. The longer they cover up Benghazi and not fess up, when the truth comes out and it will, the devastation will be that much more devestating. Remember Watergate….but at least with Watergate no one got killed.
