Murder Suspect’s Escape Foiled When Woman Takes His Keys, Wallet from Getaway Car

Miami, FL (AHN) – A murder suspect who planned on using his car as a getaway vehicle had his escape attempt thwarted by a woman walking her dog. The woman saw the car, running with keys and wallet inside and being suspicious she took the items and called the police.
As she was speaking with police on the phone she saw Paul Gayle, 28 running out of a house on Saturday. According to police he is now a suspect in the murder of a man inside the home he was seen running from. Police say Gayle went to his ex-girlfriend Joy Stewart’s home shortly before 1 a.m. Planning on killing her. However, what he didn’t expect was her friend Hasting Clarke being in the home and defending her.
As Gayle and Clarke fought, the ex-girlfriend escaped with stab wounds and drove away looking for a cop. She found one a few blocks away.
All of this was occurring while the woman walking her dog noticed something amiss with the vehicle. Subsequently, Gayle was arrested moments later when officers arrived and saw him wearing a bloody shirt and in posession of a bloody knife.
Gayle is currently facing charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and armed burglary. He is also being held without bail at the Broward County Main Jail.
