Swedish Man Is Granted Disability Benefits For Addiction To Heavy Metal

A Swedish man has allegedly been granted state disability benefit because of his addiction to heavy metal.

The Global Post, is reporting that 42-year-old Roger Tullgren, has consulted his three psychologists to clarify his addiction to the genre. Because of his devotion to the music he has attended over 300 concerts in the last year, and has been able to hold down a job.

“I have been trying for 10 years to get this classified as a handicap,” Tullgren told the Swedish newspaper The Local. “I spoke to three psychologists and they finally agreed that I needed this to avoid being discriminated against.”

“I signed a form saying: ‘Roger feels compelled to show his heavy metal style. This puts him in a difficult situation on the labor market. Therefore he needs extra financial help.'” added Tullgren. “So now I can turn up at a job interview dressed in my normal clothes and just hand the interviewers this piece of paper.”

Tullgren, who has long black hair, numerous tattoos and various skull and crossbones inspired items of jewellery, allegedly now has a part-time job as a pot-washer at a restaurant in the town of Hasslehom, which is being supplemented by disability benefits. Tullgren’s new boss has allowed him time off to go to gigs, and even allows him to play Slayer in the building as he cleans plates, so long as it doesn’t disturbs the guests.
