‘The Incredible Burt Wonderstone’ Trailer Offers Up Magic And Laughs [Video]

Warner Bros. is preparing the world for director Don Scardino’s The Incredible Burt Wonderstone by releasing the first trailer onto the internet.

The film combines the comedic talents of The Office alum Steve Carell and Jim Carrey, two actors who should in theory work very well together. If the trailer is any indication of what’s in store for moviegoers, then Wonderstone might be the comedy to catch in 2013.

In a nutshell, the film follows two magicians (Steve Carell and Steve Buscemi) as they come face-to-face with their arch-enemy: a hip, edgy illusionist named Steve Gray. Judging from the trailer, it doesn’t take long for friendly competition to take a decidedly hilarious turn.

Internet Movie Database has a meatier synopsis:

“Longtime Las Vegas favorite, magician Burt Wonderstone, and his sidekick, Anton Lovecraft, have allowed their show to grow stale, while up-and-coming Steve Gray, is stealing the limelight. Entitled, cynical and jaded, Burt finds himself out of a job and broke, while Anton heads to Cambodia to spread the joy of magic to hungry villagers. It takes Burt’s original mentor, Rance Hanson, to talk sense into glum Burt, as well as a good kick in the keester by his adoring assistant, Jane, to get Burt on track — back doing magic with all the zeal and passion that compelled him as a youngster.”

In addition to Carey, Carell, and Buscemi, the film also features Jay Mohr, Alan Arkin, James Gandolfini, and the lovely Olivia Wilde.

At present, Warner Bros. is expected to release The Incredible Burt Wonderstone into theaters on March 15, 2013. Jim Carrey’s other 2013 endeavor, Jeff Wadlow’s Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, will arrive in US cinemas on June 28, 2013.
