Student Kicked Out For Wearing Nose Ring Back In School With Transparent Stud

Bountiful, UT (AHN) – Officials of Utah’s Bountiful Junior High has accepted back a student it kicked out for wearing a nose ring after she replaced it with a transparent, almost invisible stud.

Suzannah Pabla was kicked out a week ago because her nose piercing violated the school’s dress code. Her argument that she was following her Sikh father’s culture was not accepted by school officials, who insisted that the dress code only allows piercings in ear lobes.

Pabla’s American mother, who is divorced from her Indian husband, accused the school of racial discrimination. But Davis School District spokesman Chris Williams said nose piercing is allowed if it is truly a religious practice.

“The school should admit its mistake, reinstate and apologize to student Suzannah Pabla and her parents, and amend the dress code accordingly,” Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed, chairman of the Indo-American Leadership Confederation, said on Monday in Nevada.
