The legend of Ron Burgundy will continue next year. Paramount today announced that Anchorman: The Legend Continues will make its debut in theaters on December 20, 2013.

Not a whole lot has been revealed about Anchorman 2 since its announcement from the man himself on Conan O’Brien earlier on in the year, but we do know a few details.

Anchorman: The Legend Continues will reportedly follow Burgundy, played once again by Will Ferrell, and his news team as they struggle to adapt with the advent of the 24-hour news channel, a big threat to KVWN-TV Channel 4. The script is said to be still in the works.

“We’re going to be throwing a lot of innovation at them, and they’re not going to handle it well… It’s right when all the news started changing with the 24-hours news cycle in ’78 or ’79,” Anchorman 2 co-writer and director Adam McKay told Empire earlier this year.

“All of a sudden, local news stations diversified and had Latino anchors and African-American anchors, and any time you’re talking about diversity and the Action News team, that’s always fun to deal with.”

All of the main characters — Christina Applegate, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and David Koechner — have signed off on the film, and there may be a new addition.

Earlier this month, reports surfaced that Kristen Wiig might be playing the role of a new love interest for Burgundy in Anchorman 2. Paramount has yet to confirm or deny the report.
