A young rapper is paying tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, using his viral popularity to spread a message against violence.

Nine-year-old rapper Amor “Lilman” Arteaga gained fame for his first music video, “Pull Ya Pants Up,” which included an appearance by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. Now the rapper has turned his attention to Sandy Hook with a song called “Stop da Violence.”

In the song, the rapper Lilman expands on more than just Sandy Hook, Yahoo! News noted. The song also touches on issues like bullying, gun violence, and domestic violence.

His chorus is a call for people to stop the endless cycle of violence in our nation.

“Put da guns down. Stop the killing. Think before you act, don’t make a poor decision. The world is hurting, we all need healing. No more guns — what a wonderful feeling.”

Lilman said he was working on the song all throughout the fall, but after Friday’s school shooting in Connecticut he scrambled to include the victims somehow, the New York Daily News reported.

At the end of the song, rapper Lilman pays tribute to the Sandy Hook Victims, which include 20 children and six adults killed in the shooting on Friday.

Though only in grade school himself, Lilman said he thinks he can make a real difference in reaching a young audience.

“Obama should listen to me,” the rapper said about ambitions to meet the president. “If we work together, we can make a difference. I am young. I can reach an audience that politicians and other grownups try to relate to, but they really don’t know what to say.”
