Corvallis, OR – Fourth time’s a charm, right? An elderly Oregonian has elected to take the direct approach when it comes to courting his fourth wife: Guerilla marketing.

Sandy McCulloch, an 82-year-old white male seeking companionship, has been pounding the Oregon streets with a sign around his neck that reads: “Wanted: a wife.” Additional requirements listed on the sign are: She must be over the age of 60, love books, have a sense of humor, and live in Corvallis, reports MSN Now.

McCulloch racked up three ex-wives by the age of 39, but insists that all of that emotional baggage is behind him now. After over four decades of reflection, he has decided that he wants to spend his twilight years looking for a true companion.

“People look for a wife for different reasons when they are 20 or 25 than when they are my age,” he said. “I’m looking for companionship.”

He wears the sign sparingly, having first donned it last week at an Old World Deli in downtown Corvallis. Men walked by offering him thumbs-up gestures and smiles, while some passersby asked to take his photo. A few women even offered to help him find a wife.

He sat down and talked with one woman for nearly an hour about his quest for a fourth wife, and though she was too young to be a potential candidate, they developed a friendship with the woman agreeing to help him find potential candidates, reports BendBulletin.

“The response was rather amazing and delightful,” he said. “It’s the closest I’ve ever come to being a rock star in a room full of people.”

McCulloch is an educated man who has held various jobs over the years. He is now living on a modest, fixed income which he supplements with work as a writer.

“I’m not greedy, I just need one wife!” he said. “In all honesty, I don’t know if this will lead to anything. If nothing else, it has been a lot of fun.”
