The first trailer for director Michael Bay’s upcoming comedy-drama Pain And Gain has arrived online, Deadline is reporting.

The film, which sports a budget of around $20 million, is a bit of a different beast for Michael Bay. Although the film does carry the director’s penchant for slow motion, scantily-clad beauties, and speedboats, the movie doesn’t seem to be nearly as over-the-top as his previous efforts.

Collider has the following plot synopsis for the flick:

“Based on a true story, ‘Pain and Gain’ follows a group of bodybuilders who engaged in a campaign of kidnapping, extortion, and murder in Florida. First told in an article from the Miami New Times.”

During a recent interview, Wahlberg said it was the relationship he developed with Bay on the set of Pain and Gain that prompted his decision to sign on for Transformers 4.

“We kind of complemented each other throughout the entire process, what he does and what I do and what we were able to do together, and then after that I was like ‘Dude we gotta work together again,’ and he was like, ‘Well I got a project, you interested?’ ” the actor told Collider.

After spending several years crafting the Transformers trilogy, Bay decided to take a step back from glossy, high-profile action movies to direct Pain and Gain. Once that project was complete, Bay turned his attention back to the action genre.

“I thought I was done,” Bay explained to Total Film. “Then the ride came out [at Universal Studios Hollywood] and the two-and-a-half-hour lines. And then you’re thinking, ‘Oh my God, someone’s going to take this over.’ And you start doing a lot of soul-searching. The studio says they want to restart the franchise, And someone could come in here and screw it up, you know?”

Michael Bay’s caper stars Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Anthony Mackie, Ed Harris, Rob Corddry, Tony Shalhoub, Bar Paly, Rebel Wilson, Ken Jeong, and Yolanthe Cabau. Look for the film to hit theaters on April 26, 2013.
