Hugh Jackman Confirmed For ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’

Hugh Jackman has been confirmed for X-Men: Days of Future Past by director Bryan Singer, according to Cinema Blend.

Movie obsessives have been frantically tossing around rumors that Hugh Jackman would tackle the role of Wolverine once again for the upcoming X-Men sequel. At the time, nothing official had been confirmed by the studio, Jackman, or Bryan Singer.

However, the director recently took to Twitter to confirm that Wolverine will definitely make an appearance in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

“I would officially like to welcome [Hugh Jackman] to the cast of [‘X-Men: Days of Future Past]. Very excited! More to come,” Singer tweeted.

According to Total Film, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellan have all signed to star in the upcoming superhero effort. However, specific plot details are currently a closely guarded secret.

The inclusion of Stewart and McKellan suggests the time travel device will somehow bring together the young and old versions of their respective characters. Since nothing has been confirmed, consider this nothing more than speculation on my part.

The Hollywood Reporter offers up the follow details regarding the film’s storyline:

“The story was partially set in an alternate future where surviving mutants have been penned in concentration camps, giant robots called Sentinels patrol America, and most of the X-Men have been hunted and killed. In the present day, the X-Men were forced to stop a key event from unfolding in order to keep that future from occurring.”

For those who simply cannot get enough Wolverine in their cinematic diets, Hugh Jackman is all set to play the character once again in director James Mangold’s The Wolverine. The film is currently scheduled to open in the US on July 26, 2013.
