Adam Lanza Motive: Nancy Lanza Was Allegedly Trying To Have Her Son Committed

Newtown, CT – Adam Lanza allegedly feared that his mother was going to commit him to a psychiatric facility. The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter may have “snapped” because of Nancy Lanza’s supposed decision to send her son away for treatment, according to statements 25-year-old Marine Joshua Flashman made to Fox News.

Flashman, a local pastor’s son, also claimed that Adam Lanza thought his mother loved the school “more than she loved him.” Initial reports after the horrific Connecticut school shooting indicating that Nancy Lanza was a teacher at Sandy Hook were inaccurate.

Adam reportedly attended the elementary school for several years. Fox News law enforcement sources allegedly stated that Nancy had been volunteering at the school and had worked with the murdered first graders when they were in kindergarten last year. Nancy Lanza was allegedly good friends with both the Sandy Hook Elementary School principal and the school psychologist.

Joshua Flashman had this to say about Adam Lanza’s motive during the interview:

“From what I’ve been told, Adam was aware of her petitioning the court for conservatorship and her plans to have him committed. Adam was apparently very upset about this. He thought she just wanted to send him away. From what I understand, he was really, really angry. I think this could have been it, what set him off. I could understand how he might perceive that—that his mom loved him less than she loved the kids, loved the school. But she did love him. But he was a troubled kid and she probably just couldn’t take care of him by herself anymore.”

The Fox News report also maintains that a “senior law enforcement official” involved in the Newtown shooting investigation confirmed that Adam Lanza was angry with his mother regarding the supposed plans for his future mental health treatment. The allegations that Nancy Lanza was trying to obtain legal conservatorship over her youngest son is reportedly being reviewed as a possible motive in the tragic Sandy Hook shooting.

Flashman’s statements that Nancy Lanza had initiated the legal paperwork necessary to have Adam committed cannot be confirmed because such records are sealed, according to the Daily Mail. A competency hearing to request commitment to a psychiatric facility had not yet been held.
