A stubborn flier went to unusual lengths to save a couple bucks by wearing 70 items of clothing at once to avoid an extra baggage charge.

The unidentified man was headed to Nairobi, Kenya from China’s Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. In an effort to lighten his overweight luggage, he donned 70 items of clothing including 60 shirts and nine pairs of jeans, reports MSN Now.

He was described by onlookers as looking like a “sumo wrestler,” reports The Guangzhou Daily.

Though the man managed to avoid paying extra for overweight baggage, he was pulled at the metal detector and forced to undergo a rigorous full-body search. In his many pockets, authorities found batteries, thumb drives, and device chargers, reports DigitalSpy.

No news on whether the man wearing 70 items of clothing was forced to pay for another ticket due to his size.

This isn’t the first time airport officials have stopped someone for their odd and suspicious appearance. We reported this July that 41-year-old Jonah Falcon was stopped by TSA agents at San Francisco International Airport after they determined that he was carrying a “suspicious package” in the front of his pants.

Falcon was frisked and chemical powder was sprinkled on his pants to check for traces of explosives after a “very noticeable” bulge in his trousers was interpreted by TSA agents as a potential “biological threat.”
