Chris Johnson used his cleats on Monday Night Football to pay tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

The Tennessee Titan’s running back wrote the names of all the victims on his cleats. He also wrote the words “R.I.P. SHES” at the top of each shoe.

SHES, which stands for Sandy Hook Elementary School, was also used as a helmet decal by various teams during the games on Sunday Monday.

After the game, Johnson said:

“Kind of heartbroken, so just something to try to give back and show tribute to those families knowing how much they hurt and a situation where on Monday Night Football everybody around the world is watching.”

After the shooting, Johnson took to Twitter to say that he was praying for the victims in Connecticut. Johnson also posted a picture of his two little boys, saying that the shooting made him realize how “much of a blessing” his children really are.

CBS notes that Johnson isn’t the only player to pay special tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting. New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz wrote ”R.I.P. Jack Pinto,” “Jack Pinto, my hero” and “This one is for you” on his shoes after her learned that he was a hero to one of the 6-year-old victims.

Cruz said:

“There’s no words that can describe the type of feeling that you get when a kid idolizes you so much that unfortunately they want to put him in the casket with your jersey on. I can’t even explain it.”
