Zooey Deschanel Officially Divorced From Death Cab’s Ben Gibbard

Zooey Deschanel is officially divorced from her husband of roughly three years, indie rocker Ben Gibbard.

The 32-year-old New Girl star and 36-year-old Gibbard had their divorce finalized on December 12, according to People. Court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court say the following of the divorce:

“Unhappy and irreconcilable differences have arisen between the parties, which have caused the irremediable breakdown of their marriage. There is no possibility that counseling … or mediation could save the marriage.”

Neither Deschanel or Gibbard have spoken at-length about their marriage, or their reasons for divorce. “We’re friendly. It’s all fine,” Deschanel abruptly said just after filing for divorce in 2011.

Back when things were good, Gibbard said of then-wife Deschanel: “I was just awestruck that she was even talking to me. I’d seen her movies and obviously I thought she was very beautiful.”

The couple were married in December of 2009.

Just in case you think you finally have a shot at the 500 Days of Summer star, we should let you know that she’s currently dating screenwriter Jamie Linden. The two have been dating for roughly six or seven months, only being spotted publicly on rare occasion, reports The Daily Mail.

Linden has written screenplays for 10 Years, Dear John and We Are Marshall.

“Jamie’s a really nice guy,” a source told Us Weekly back in June when the two went public with their relationship. “He’s funny, and a little geeky. . . he’s into her!”

So far as we know, the two are still together. We’ll let you know is anything changes.
