Racial Tweets Light Up Twitter Demanding Football Over President Obama

Rabid fans of Sunday Night Football took to Twitter to protest President Obama’s address interrupting the game on Sunday night. Twitter lit up with Tweets that were horribly racial in nature to talk down for the President for appearing on national television.

Just like the when ignorant people criticize women their first inclination is to call them a bitch or a slut or to criticize their looks, the tweets were marked by such horrible terms as nigger, darkie and sand nigger to describe the President during a time of natural disaster. One of the Tweets was put out by a member of the North Alabama Football team, the school has already announced he was removed form the team over the incident.

The President’s address was broadcast in prime time Sunday Night, just as the San Francisco 49ers and the New England Patriots were getting going on national television. Millions of people tuned into the address in order to hear the President talk about our national response to the shooting in Newton, Connecticut were 26 people, 20 of them elementary school children, were gunned down by Adam Lanza, a mentally disturbed youth.

The President said in his address:

“I am very mindful that mere words cannot match the depth of your sorrow, nor can they heal your wounded hearts. I can only hope that it helps for you to know that you are not alone in your grief.”

President Obama has promised that he is going to use the tragedy to bring about a national discussion on gun control and find ways to mobilize the federal government to address the issue. The President is a supporter of stricter gun control laws.
