Better watch your windows. Eric Williamson, 29, was home alone on Monday and started making coffee at 5:30 am. Williamson’s roommates weren’t home, so he didn’t bother putting on pants. Now the man, a commercial diver from Springfield, VA, faces up to a year in jail and $2,000 in fines because an unidentified woman (walking with a 7-year-old boy) was peering in his windows at the time of the incident.

Williamson, himself the father of a five-year-old, says he feels like the victim in the scenario, and it’s not hard to see why. While naked sunbathing is one thing, it seems like a reasonable assumption that very few people will be looking into your kitchen in the dark pre-dawn hours. The complainant and the child were cutting across Williamson’s yard at the time, which sounds an awful lot like trespassing to me. And what’s worse for a seven-year-old child- seeing a naked person of their own gender or being dragged out of bed at 5am for a walk? Williamson commented on his predicament and the horrible connotations of his “crime.”

“Yes, I wasn’t wearing any clothes but I was alone, in my own home and just got out of bed. It was dark and I had no idea anyone was outside looking in at me… I am a loving dad. Any of my friends and anyone knows that and there is not a chance on this planet I would ever, ever, ever do anything like that to a kid.”
