Gmail May Get Makeover

You may soon be able to customize your Gmail viewing experience without any third party programs.

Google Blogoscoped says Google’s engineers are working on a set of 12 themes for the Gmail web client to let you step out of the familiar blue and white territory. Right now, third party scripting utilities like Firefox add-on GreaseMonkey let you change the Gmail look, but Google offers no official alternative.

The new themes could include looks like a black and green terminal view and a flowery display and may launch within the next few months, according to the source who contacted Google Blogoscoped.
