Backstage News About Nikki Bella’s Return To ‘SmackDown Live,’ Huge Return Coming For ‘Summerslam’

Nikki Bella has not been featured on WWE television since WrestleMania 33. The WWE Universe had been speculating that she could be having her retirement match in Orlando and ending her WWE career after the proposal from John Cena gave her the perfect fairytale ending. However, it’s been reported over the last few months that Nikki Bella has taken a hiatus from WWE programming due to some lingering neck issues.

In the past, there have been rumors about Bella becoming a part-time wrestler as a way to extend her career with WWE. With a lighter schedule, Nikki would work major PPVs like WWE Summerslam and others if the right angle or feud arises on WWE television. It just so happens that the biggest party of the summer is just around the corner, and the WWE Universe is curious if Nikki Bella will make another big return at the event.

It’s being reported that Nikki Bella is expected to make her return to SmackDown Live for a match at WWE Summerslam. Unfortunately, any creative plans for the former WWE Divas Champion are being kept under wraps. SmackDown Live’s women have done excellent work as of late, especially after bringing two different Money in the Bank Ladder Matches to the brand. Nikki Bella’s return would only add more fuel to the fire.

WWE officials may not wait for Summerslam for Nikki Bella to appear on WWE programming for the first time since the grandest stage of them all. WWE Battleground will take place next week in Philadelphia. The powers that be could include her in the Fatal Five Way Match at the event. That match will determine the new No. 1 Contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, which may be Nikki Bella’s next rivalry.

A lot has changed on SmackDown Live while Nikki Bella has been on hiatus as well. Charlotte Flair has also moved over to “the blue brand,” and there have been rumors about Bella vs. Flair happening again on WWE television. Maria Kanellis has returned to WWE as well, and there is some speculation about her still having some heat with The Bella Twins. A feud between them could be something great for WWE fans to watch.

Nikki Bella is one of the most accomplished WWE Superstars and her return to SmackDown Live would be a game changer for the Women’s Division. Over the past year, she’s done some great work helping the next generation of women get over with the WWE Universe. If she returns at Summerslam, that will continue.
