‘Married At First Sight’ Alum Jamie Otis Shares Intimate, Beautiful Memorial To Late Son On Social Media

Married at First Sight alums Jamie Otis and husband, Doug Hehner, have shared an intimate moment with their followers on Instagram. A year after losing their child midway through Jamie’s pregnancy, the reality TV couple has shared a beautiful memorial to their late baby boy — a Rose of Sharon tree, planted in honor of their son, who was born prematurely at just a little over 17 weeks.

In one of her recent Instagram posts, Jamie described how she and her husband always wanted to plant a tree in remembrance of their late child. This way, she and Doug could watch the tree grow, the same way they could have watched their son mature over the years. Jamie further shared that she and her husband waited some time before they could do this, as they had to wait until they could afford their own home first.

“One of the ways I wanted to remember him was by planting a tree for him & watching it grow. Now that we finally have our own home and our own backyard we can plant that tree. We researched and found a tree that blossoms all summer long???? Tonight at 7 pm EST we are going to remember & love on our angel baby & we’d love for you to join us in keeping Johnny’s memory alive.”

Many social media followers of the reality TV stars have expressed their sympathy and support to both Jamie and Doug, with many Married at First Sight fans assuring the couple that better things are in store for them in the near future. If any, the fact that Jamie is pregnant once more and is expecting a second child later this summer seems to be an indication that the couple has already begun recovering from their loss last year.

In an exclusive report from People Magazine in April, Jamie and Doug stated that they were expecting a baby girl sometime during the summer of 2017. While the couple did not share the scheduled date of Jamie’s delivery, both Doug and Jamie did reveal that they found out about their second child in December, 2016, the month which would have been the due date for their late son.

The Married at First Sight couple’s heartfelt memorial to their son has been received warmly by thousands of their followers on Instagram. Some have even remarked that they selected the best tree in order to commemorate their first child. After all, a Rose of Sharon tree blooms every summer, and it is known to grow around 13- to 24-inches a year. The tree is also known to grow up to 12-feet tall, with a spread of up to 10 feet.

With this in mind, it seems inevitable that Jamie and Doug would definitely have a tangible, visible reminder of their late son in the years to come. In just a few years, Jamie, Doug, and their future children would be able to enjoy warm, intimate moments at home under the shade of a tree that is planted in honor of their first child.

Married at First Sight Season 5 is still airing. The latest season of the hit reality TV show airs every Thursday night on Lifetime.
