New Chuck Lorre Comedy Lands At CBS

Chuck Lorre and his new comedy have found at home at CBS, MSNBC reports.

Since the network has enjoyed quite a bit of success with Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, and Mike & Molly, executives have picked up the veteran producer’s new comedy. Lorre’s latest creation will reportedly follow the adventures of a single mother.

Entitled Mom, the show will chronicle the exploits of a woman who attempts to sober up and get her life back in order. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story is set in California’s wine country.

The new comedy is the first sale from a deal Chuck Lorre recently inked with Warner Bros. Productions. Two and a Half Men executive producer and story editor Gemma Baker co-wrote the pilot episode with Lorre.

The Washington Post explains that Mom isn’t the producer’s first foray into the realm of female-fronted television. In addition to co-developing Roseanne, Chuck Lorre is also responsible for crafting Grace Under Fire and Dharma & Greg.

As for Two and a Half Men, it’s currently unknown what fate has in store for the supposedly “cursed” situation comedy. Following co-star Angus T. Jones’ infamous rant about the program, many have wondered if Men is currently on its last legs.

A Mike & Molly vanity card seemed to address the controversy surrounding Jones’ remarks. Much to everyone’s surprise, Chuck Lorre didn’t address situation head-on.

“It is entirely our choice as to what kind of world we live in,” the producer wrote. “With a simple decision, we can suffer in the darkness or play in the light. We can be angry, frightened and enslaved, or loving, joyous and free.

He added, “I know. It’s a toughie.”

It’s currently unknown when Mom will find its way to the small screen. Are you a fan of Chuck Lorre? Are you looking forward to his new comedy?
