‘Boruto: Naruto Next Generations’ Episode 15 Recap And Episode 16 Speculations: Sumire’s Fate [Spoilers]

In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 14, it was revealed that the Class Rep Sumire Kakei was the mastermind behind the Ghost incidents happening in the Hidden Leaf Village. In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 15, the fate of Sumire hangs in balance as the authorities decide what to do with the Class Rep.

According to Comic Book, the Ghost Arc of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations have finally come to a close. But Sumire’s status remains in question. Since her antics are considered a crime, Sumire has been detained by the Leaf Police. On the other hand, Sumire decided to confess everything to the authorities and decided on her own to discontinue her revenge on the village.

This change of heart prompted Shikamaru to wonder why the Class Rep suddenly ended her rampage at the last minute. Sai revealed that Sumire stopped because of her classmates, led by Boruto, at the Academy. While Sumire has already confessed, it is not enough to clear her of her crimes or to let her go back to the Academy until such time that a decision is made.

Meanwhile, at the Academy, Shino assigned Boruto’s class to make a three-man team following the Shinobi traditions. Boruto teams up with Mitsuki and Metal Lee while Iwabe chose Denki and Sarada as his teammates. Shikadai, Inojin, and Chocho formed their three-man team following their parents’ tried and tested Ino-Shika-Cho formation.

With the Class Rep Sumire still missing, most of the students have realized that the Ghost incidents plaguing the Hidden Leaf Village have also stopped. For Boruto, however, he noticed that his new-found ocular and uncontrolled power has also gone dormant without the Ghost incidents.

With Sumire’s status still unknown, a number of people who know about the Ghost incidents, including Shino and Boruto, requested that she be allowed to stay at the Academy. Shino went to the principal Iruka to plead her case while Boruto asked his father Naruto to use his title as Hokage to let the Class Rep come back. Naruto promises that Sumire would be taken care of no matter the outcome of the Hidden Leaf Village Police investigation.

Shino visits a remorseful Sumire in detention with the latter asking for forgiveness since Shino was one of her victims. The Class Rep asked how she can atone for her misdeeds knowing that the chance of her coming back to the Academy is slim. And with Sumire unsure that she really wants to go back to the Academy, Shino offers to build her a place outside the village if the authorities decide not to allow her back.

Meanwhile, the 3-man team training exercises are in full blast. The newest Ino-Shika-Cho trio is giving Boruto’s team a run for its money and had them in a tight spot. Boruto’s team recovers and eventually wins the match with Mitsuki and Boruto showing off their compatibility as teammates after Metal Lee has been knocked off the battle.

After the exercise, Shino appears at the academy entrance with the Class Rep in tow. The class welcomed back Sumire with open arms.

Towards the end of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 15, Naruto’s clone is seen meeting with Sasuke Uchiha in an undisclosed location. Naruto shows a scroll containing information about Danzo’s project to discover Kaguya’s Hidden Jutsu. Sasuke hints that the information contained in the scroll brings them closer to finding out where Kaguya is. Before parting, Sasuke asked Naruto give a message to his wife, Sakura.

Meanwhile, a mysterious man who bears an uncanny resemblance to Mitsuki appears. The mystery man confirms that the gate opened by Sumire and Nue has been sealed prompting him to conclude that Jougan will not be able to return for the time being. The mystery man also promised that the gods will come back again, in time.

The next scene shifts to another dimension, based on the strange sky and background of a planet or a moon. A lone figure appears eating what appears to be a strange fruit. A second character appears who goes by the name of Kinshiki. From their conversation, it seems that Kinshiki is a subordinate of the first character who appeared eating the fruit. Kinshiki was ordered to prepare for departure following his report that a world is ready for harvest.

As usual, the ending of the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations poses more questions. In this episode, viewers will likely ask whether the gods the mystery man was talking about is related to the fruit-eating individual in the final scene. Who is this Kaguya? Was Kaguya the person eating that strange food? What exactly is that food?

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 16 Boruto and his classmates prepare for their examinations. If they failed this test, then they will have to repeat everything and start over. This puts more pressure on some students including Iwabe and Denki. But since Denki is good in academics but doesn’t do well in Ninjutsu, and Iwaki is brilliant in Ninjutsu but has troubles in academics, the two unlikely friends will team up to help each other out.
