Sophie Turner On ‘Game Of Thrones’ Ending: ‘I’ll Be An Emotional Wreck For A Year’

Game of Thrones Season 7 is premiering this week and the inevitable end of the series is happening in Season 8. If there’s one person who’s not too thrilled about it, it’s Sophie Turner.

Turner has been breathing life into the character, Sansa Stark, Lady of Winterfell, in the hit HBO series for the last eight years. Now, as the show’s about to wrap up, the English actress admitted she’s not looking forward to the conclusion.

In a new interview with W Magazine, the 21-year-old said she is fully aware that Game of Thrones is coming to an end but is not quite prepared for what’s going to happen after.

“I’ve been trying to wrap my head around it. It’s not like I’m brushing it under the carpet; I am fully aware that it is coming to an end, but I don’t think I’ll be ready until I shoot my final scene, and then I think I will be completely an emotional wreck for the next year or so of my life.”

It’s easy to understand why Sophie feels that way. She started out in Game of Thrones when she was just a teenager. Since then, the role of Sansa Stark has been a major part of her life. She revealed how the character has an effect on her — whatever happens to Sansa can affect her significantly.

“I have kind of been living through two people for the past eight years.”

One proof that Sansa Stark has been embedded into Sophie is having people think that she is the Lady of Winterfell and they will treat her as royalty. The actress shared that some would even greet her as “Lady Stark.”

But being Sansa wasn’t easy for teenage Sophie, especially when she learned that she had to dye her hair red. It’s something that she was a bit skeptical about, but once the producers explained how important it is for her to change her look, she realized how cool it would be to transform herself.

Although Sophie Turner’s time as Sansa is ending soon, she still has other projects to keep her mind off from Game of Thrones. Turner is set on making bold choices when it comes to her acting career. She played Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse and will soon reprise her role in the sequel, X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The upcoming Marvel flick was recently confirmed and Sophie Turner will reunite with cast members Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence, among others.

For now, Sophie is not sharing any details about her new Marvel movie just as she’s not keen on giving out hints on what’s to come in Game of Thrones, which will return with Season 7 episodes starting on July 16, Sunday, 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
