Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Possibility Of Running For President In 2020 Could Soon Be True

Going from the world of entertainment to politics has been done by some of the best entertainers the world has ever seen. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is trying to be the next entertainer to be included on that list.

A campaign committee has reportedly drafted a proposal for to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for Johnson to run for President of the United States in 2020.

Just a couple of months ago, Johnson was a part of a pilot skit for SNL. The skit involved Johnson posing as the president and campaigning in front of a podium that was labeled “The Rock” Johnson 2020.

Although the SNL skit was not real, The Rock must have taken it a bit more serious than fans expected. According to The Hill, a guy by the name of Kenton Tilford is the person that filed the paperwork on The Rock’s behalf.

The Fast and the Furious star would not be the first entertainer that’s decided to enter the world of politics. Jesse “The Body” Ventura, a former pro-wrestler, was elected as the 38th Governor of Minnesota back in 1999, at the height of The Rock’s career in the WWE.

Four years later, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger became the 38th Governor of California. The Rock seems to be aiming much higher than Arnold and Jesse if he officially becomes a presidential candidate.

In an interview with GQ Magazine in May, Johnson shared his views on the current president’s Muslim ban.

“I completely disagree with it. I believe in our national security to the core, but I don’t believe in a ‘ban’ that bans immigrants. I believe in inclusion. Our country was built on that, and it continues to be made strong by that.”

Currently, Johnson is enjoying his time being the highest-paid actor in the movie industry. He recently enjoyed a lead role in the Baywatch movie and is scheduled to star alongside Kevin Hart in the remake of the 1996 film Jumanji this coming December.

On the contrary, he also got to recently enjoy the remake of The Mummy, which was the predecessor to The Scorpion King (2002) which was Johnson’s first ever lead role in a film.

The Rock has only one scheduled movie for now, after the year of 2017, and will have to find a way to balance his acting career and devoting time to a presidential campaign over the next three years if he is serious about running.
