WWE News: Seth Rollins Hints At A Shield Reunion At Madison Square Garden Event

The WWE held a huge event at s non-televised house show in Madison Square Garden on Friday night. However, this was no ordinary house show as a major title changed hands in front of the audience and then Seth Rollins took a microphone and hinted that the fans might be seeing a Shield reunion in the WWE someday soon.

Of course, as originally reported, the title change was for the United States Championship. AJ Styles beat Kevin Owens at the Madison Square Garden WWE house show to win the title.

Seth Rollins talks The Shield

The big Seth Rollins moment came after the match between Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt. Reigns beat Bray Wyatt but then Braun Strowman ran in and attacked Roman after the match. To even the odds, Seth Rollins ran in for the save of his former WWE partner in The Shield.

The audience reportedly went nuts after this. Fans started chanting for Dean Ambrose and many also chanted for The Shield. This isn’t the first time that the WWE has had former members of The Shield in the ring together and the fans always seem to get their hopes up. This time, Seth Rollins paid off the fans’ chants with a promo.

This being a non-televised house show, what Seth Rollins said will have little to do with what happens on the Monday Night Raw television show, but he did hint at something big. In the promo embedded below, Rollins apologized for Ambrose not being there, saying he was about “15 beers deep” in some bar but then he said, “the good news is, we hear you New York City.”

The chances for The Shield WWE reunion

What Seth Rollins could have meant by that is up for interpretation. However, there have been a lot of WWE rumors that there would be a reunion of The Shield within the next year. With the ratings dropping in the WWE, bringing one of the most popular factions in WWE history back together could prove to be a really big boost for the company.

Of course, the storyline reason that Seth Rollins ran in to save Roman Reigns was that it was Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman who were beating him down. At the Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view tonight, Seth Rollins fights Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns battles Braun Strowman in an Ambulance Match.

With that said, the WWE knew that having Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins standing together in the ring would elicit the Shield chants and the crowd did not let them down. If the WWE is measuring the fan’s interest in a Shield reunion, this could be the perfect way to start that in motion.
