Jill Duggar Dillard Update: Baby Samuel Scott Dillard’s First Photo Emerges, Sparks Fans’ Worry

The ever-growing Duggar family has welcomed its latest addition with the birth of Samuel Scott Dillard, Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard’s second child. After a long and grueling 40-hour labor, Jill Duggar Dillard finally gave birth to Baby Samuel via C-section. Now, the family has released the first photo of Samuel to social media, with Derick assuring everyone on his Instagram page that both baby and mother are healthy.

“Jill and I are so blessed to welcome our second child, Samuel Scott Dillard! 9 lbs 10 oz and 22 in long! Mom and baby Sam are doing well! Thank you to those who have been supporting us through your prayers and encouragement!”

While Derick’s Instagram update seemed to indicate that everything went fine in Jill’s delivery, many followers of the iconic family have voiced their concern about Baby Samuel’s health. After all, Samuel’s first public photo, which could be viewed here, showed the newborn infant attached to a heart monitor, an IV line, and oxygen.

Stacey D. Cooper, one of Derick’s followers in Instagram, voiced her concern about Baby Samuel’s health. Being a nurse, Cooper stated that most babies do not need that much support from medical equipment after they are born.

“Without knowing what happened, no one can be certain but as an OB RN, I can assure you that most newborns do not need an IV, heart monitor and O2 regardless of how they were born.”

Apart from the single snapshot in Instagram, Jill and Derick are yet to release any official statement about Baby Samuel’s health. For now, the Duggar family, the Dillard family, and their millions of followers are just breathing a sigh of relief that Jill’s second pregnancy is finally over.

After all, Jill’s pregnancy this time around has managed to get many of the family’s fans worried, especially after she voiced her desire to give birth to Samuel naturally, and possibly at home. As it turned out, however, Jill would ultimately end up giving birth to Baby Sam in a hospital, and through a C-section at that.

Interestingly, Israel, Jill and Derick’s first child, was also born in a hospital through the same medical procedure. During that time, Jill had also wanted to give birth at home, but a long and difficult labor ultimately forced her to seek aid from medical professionals.

If any, Jill’s long 40-hour labor for Samuel is far shorter than the 70-hour labor she endured for Israel, her first son, when she gave birth to him back in 2015. Considering that Jill and Derick would likely have another child after Samuel, there is a relatively good chance that the second Duggar daughter would have an easier time with her almost inevitable third pregnancy.
