Iggy Azalea Confirms ‘Digital Distortion’ Album Release Canceled: Fans Left Outraged

Iggy Azalea has confirmed that her album, Digital Distortion, will not be seeing a release date because her record label has trashed the record in its entirety.

The rapper took to her official Twitter page, confirming the news to her millions of disappointed fans, who seemed rather shocked by the announcement seeing that there had already been multiple singles released from the album, That Grape Juice reports.

Iggy Azalea noted that the label, Def Jam, no longer saw a potential to put the record out, especially after all the setbacks it had already faced prior to the confirmation that the record wasn’t coming out anymore.

Her single, “Switch,” featuring Anitta, had seen its music video leaked online a couple of weeks back, causing Def Jam to pull the plug on an actual release date for that as well.

It’s no secret that Iggy Azalea has struggled to attain the attention she had from the masses back in 2014, with hits like “Fancy” and “Black Widow,” which both charted in the top 5 slots on the Billboard Hot 100.

“Fancy” actually ended up becoming one of the biggest songs of that year, but with her comeback single “Team” last year, it was evidently clear that the momentum for Iggy Azalea seemed to have passed.

Digital Distortion was supposed to have been released last year, but due to the lack of performance from the debut single, Def Jam withheld the project until last month before letting Iggy Azalea know that they had pushed the album back again.

It was only this week where she was informed that the record label had passed on the album in its entirety, which, without surprise, disappointed and infuriated the star considering all of the promotional campaigns she had already done on talk shows and on her social media pages, as revealed by Pop Crush.

What this means for Iggy Azalea’s career is still unclear. Some fans are wondering whether this could mean she’s getting dropped from the label while others believe she’ll most likely try to get out of her contract and sign with a different company instead.

After all, it’s been almost four years since the release of Iggy Azalea’s previous record, The New Classic, which has since sold close to 400,000 copies worldwide.

Are you shocked to hear that Iggy Azalea’s new album won’t be released?
