Fresno County, CA – Clovis Unified science teacher Lindsey Trimble was arrested for allegedly having sex and engaging in oral copulation with a student. She was in her third year of employment of Clovis East High School.
The 28-year-old California teacher is accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student. Clovis East High School officials report that they first learned of a possible inappropriate relationship between Trimble and a student last Thursday morning, ABC Local notes. Law enforcement officers were called to the school to investigate and the science teacher was taken into custody that same afternoon.
Clovis Police Department public information officer Janet Stoll-Lee had this to say about the arrest of Lindsey Trimble:
“She was arrested here at Clovis Police Headquarters for having sex with a minor and oral copulation. She posted bail at $55,000 dollars and was released.”
The supposed sexual relationship between the Fresno County science teacher and a student allegedly occurred off campus between March and July of this year. Trimble is married and lives in nearby Auberry. She resigned from her teaching position at Clovis East High School the evening of her arrest, CBS 47 TV reports.
Clovis Unified spokesperson Kelly Avants had this to say about the arrest and claims that a teacher was having sex with a student:
“No doubt in anyone’s mind who works for us what is and is not appropriate; our expectations. We hold our staff to a very high standard. I think the fact that she resigned immediately indicates that the relationship existed.”
An investigation into the teacher’s actions is still ongoing, Clovis police officers reportedly do not believe any other victims exist.
