Jeremy Renner Breaks Both Arms On Set, But Not During ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Jeremy Renner has recently sustained injuries while shooting an upcoming movie— and it wasn’t Avengers: Infinity War. Fans need not worry as the actor promises it won’t affect his portrayal of Clint Barton (Hawkeye) in the highly anticipated 2018 Marvel film.

The Oscar-nominated actor posted photos of himself on Instagram back in June with his double injury, and most fans speculated things got a little crazy on the Infinity War set. Renner clarified what happened this morning at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival while promoting his newest film, Wind River.

Renner explained he broke parts of both arms while filming another project titled Tag, Variety confirms. Jeremy left many confused about which set he injured himself on as he was discussing Tag and Infinity War simultaneously during a press conference. Most just assumed his injuries came from the action flick and not the comedy.

The upcoming comedy film is by no means an action film, but Renner did somehow manage to injure himself in one of the movies few stunt scenes. Fans minds are at ease as Renner reassures it won’t affect Infinity War.

“I’m sort of a problem solver, you know. There will be an effect to it, but it won’t stop me from doing things that I need to be doing. I’ll heal fast. I’m doing everything I can to heal faster,” he explained. “It won’t really affect my job. It affects how I get dressed in the morning — I cannot tie my shoes, but outside of that and everything else, I can kind of get by. … I shall heal up before Avengers starts up again.”

Renner broke his right elbow and left wrist and is only sporting braces on both injuries, but no casts. The actor is no stranger to action films, starring in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, The Bourne Legacy, and The Hurt Locker, so his ability to adapt to injuries on set should be no issue this time around.

Despite Renner’s laid back demeanor about his injuries, it will still require extra effort to hide his wounds while filming. Hawkeye’s weapon of choice is the bow and arrow, which normally coincide with close-ups of his arms and hands during every fight scene. However, Renner currently isn’t filming for Avengers, so there’s a good chance he’ll be at 100 percent when it’s his time to shoot again. For now, it appears shooting Tag will be the struggle.

Renner’s newest flick Wind River will premiere August 4 as he stars alongside his Avengers co-star Elizabeth Olsen. Renner portrays a federal wildlife officer who assists an FBI agent (Olsen) on an Indian reservation murder case. Entertainment Weekly predicts Wind River has what it takes to earn a Best Picture nomination next year at the Academy Awards. This would be a second nod for director Taylor Sheridan, who wrote 2015’s Hell or High Water.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently shooting in Georgia and will debut May 4, 2018. Tag will follow the next month, premiering June 29.
