Duggar Family News: James Turns 16, Fans Are Wondering Why He Looks 12
James Andrew Duggar, the 13th child of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, was just seven years old when 19 Kids and Counting debuted on TLC. During the hit reality TV show’s first run, the charming young man immediately captured the hearts of many viewers, mainly due to his overwhelmingly cheerful personality and his ridiculously photogenic smile. Now, the cute young boy who debuted on TV back in 2008 just turned 16, and he still seems to be the exact same child that everyone fell in love with nine years ago.
In a post on the Duggar Family Official Facebook page, Jim Bob and Michelle greeted their 13th child through a heartfelt post. In the update, James’ parents lauded him for his great heart, his gentleness, and his overall caring nature towards his family members. Considering James’ disposition, such words definitely ring true, as the 16-year-old is arguably one of the nicest ones among his siblings.
“Our Sweet James, we can’t believe you are 16!! It seems like yesterday that you were crawling around the house and now to think you can drive all by yourself! Your kindness and fun-loving spirit bring such joy to our home. Your show gentleness and care to your younger siblings, nieces, and nephews. We know that God is shaping you into an honorable man, full of integrity. We look forward to everything the Lord has in store for you! Your father and I are so thankful for you. You are a blessing to our family.

According to the Original Duggar Family Fan Blog, which is run by close friends of the iconic conservative American family, James is the 13th Duggar child to celebrate his sweet 16. As part of his birthday celebration, Jim Bob and Michelle treated the teenager to a traditional Duggar birthday treat — a chocolate mess from Marketplace Grill.
Since Jim Bob and Michelle posted their birthday greetings to James on Facebook, the update has already garnered more than a thousand likes, with dozens of the family’s followers wishing the young man a great year ahead. Amusingly, many of the family’s fans had noted that James, despite being 16-years-old now, still looks practically the same as he did back when he was about 12-years-old.
In a lot of ways, these observations are extremely accurate. James has, for some reason, really maintained his youthful appearance. Even in a snapshot taken during his 16th birthday, James still looks like a middle schooler, and that is already one of his most recent photos.
Exactly how James managed to maintain his pre-teen appearance until his 16th birthday remains unknown. Regardless of this, the 13th Duggar child seems to be growing up as a fine young man that can definitely carry on the family name. In the words of Jim Bob and Michelle, he definitely does seem like a blessing to his family.
