‘Hawaii Five-0’ Showrunner Insists Daniel Dae Kim, Grace Park Were Offered Pay Raises Amidst Controversy

Hawaii Five-0 Season 8 will be moving forward without two key cast members, Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park. While the actors revealed that they left the CBS drama due to a pay dispute, showrunner Peter M. Lenkov clarified in a recent statement that the actors were given pay raises to keep them from leaving.

The controversy surrounding the exit of Grace Park and Daniel Dae Kim from Hawaii Five-0 is getting a bit too complicated. It has been revealed in earlier reports that the actors decided to leave the show because of a salary dispute; however, latest updates show that both Kim and Park were offered pay raises by CBS.

Per TV Line, executive producer Peter M. Lenkov has issued a statement regarding Kim’s latest interview to clarify details about the actors’ exit from Hawaii Five-0. According to the showrunner, CBS offered both Park and Kim “unprecedented raises” and that the network was “extremely generous and proactive” in their efforts to keep both actors from leaving the series.

While the network has reportedly taken all necessary steps to secure Park and Kim’s contracts through Hawaii Five-0 Season 8, both actors ultimately decided to “move on” from the series. This echoes the same sentiments as the network’s statements regarding Park and Kim’s exit from H50.

Lenkov added that CBS even went as far as trying to convince Park to appear in several episodes of Hawaii Five-0 Season 8, but the deal did not fall through due to several unknown reasons. The showrunner’s recent statement echoes the sentiments released by CBS following Park and Kim’s exit from the drama.

This is a new angle to the controversial exit of Kim and Park’s exit from H50, as many fans thought that the network did not even do anything to secure their contracts for Season 8. As reported by the Inquisitr, several fans have taken the initiative of pleading with CBS in hopes of getting Kim and Park back for the upcoming season.

What remains unknown from Lenkov’s statement, however, is the amount of raise that was offered to Kim and Park. It has been previously reported that both actors wanted to leave the show because they were being offered 15 percent less than their Hawaii Five-0 co-stars Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan.
